Merge with trunk of NoAI branch

Fellow coopers,

great news, another big step forward in OpenTTD development: the new framework for computer players has been merged from the NoAI branch into trunk. So, from now on, there’s no need anymore to complain about those stupid AI which OpenTTD had up until now – everyone may programme his or her own AI with as much intelligence as desired. Like many people did as documented in the NoAI subforums. Check out the threads there for different AIs.

A new year and a new member: [com]buster!

Today, #openttdcoop is pleased to promote [com]buster, a new member who’s been around for quite some time now. During his time here, he has shown good building style and, more importantly, a cooperative attitude in the games – even helping new players along: coop in the best sense :).  In the 30-odd games which have passed since he first dropped by, we have seen him submit several nice plans during the planning stage. For me, it’s been always pleasant to play in games with him, for he remains cooperative while still maintaining his own views and, more often than not, good arguments to backup his POV and proposals 🙂 – He’s also not afraid to experiment.  See his user page for his research on speed sorting.

So welcome aboard, [com]buster!

Creating a good new game – Call for scenarios and maps

As we currently have started a new game, prior to that – as usual – the discussion about what kind of map should be chosen, which newgrf we should use and which – if at all – boundary conditions should be used. This may drag a bit – to the dismay of a few persons, wishes may even be mutually exclusive – or result in less than optimally configured games.

Therefor I’d like to encourage all people to consider setting up a nice new game and providing a savegame from which a new public server game (or possibly also pro zone game) might start.

Phoenix the II honorary member

Providing us with a very good server for several months already, on which we have been able to play 1024^2 games. We’ve decided to make Phoenix a honorary member like Brianetta as a token of appreciation from our community towards his sponsoring activities.

A new server

Maybe you’ve noticed that there is an imbalance between the activity of the PublicServer and the MemberZone. We as members couldn’t help but notice this and deviced a plan to change this, this lead to an all new server called the ProZone. The ProZone will be replacing the MemberZone but it will have a different guideline for allowing people on the server. The main difference is that you don’t have to be a member anymore to play on it but it will mean that you have to be a good enough player to be able to join us. Read the rest of this entry »
