IRC channel moved

We’re still #openttdcoop, but we’re no longer #openttdcoop on Freenode. We have now moved to the Open and Free Technology Community network. We moved partly because the main #openttd channel decided to move (and we want to remain on the same network since most of us are regulars there, too) and partly because we share #openttd’s view that OFTC sucks a lot less than Freenode.

The web based IRC tab at the top of the page has been updated, and was also given a bit of a make-over at the same time to match the rest of this site. Feel free to pop in and say hello, any time.

#openttdcoop, IRC, rude behaviour, a banlist and 9 good reasons

Hello Coop,

a few words from my side to all of you there outside – due to some recent observations. Please do not mistake me – everyone of you is welcome, without any exception. We are a community of cooperative players – everyone who visits us in our channel may have noticed that. We are a bunch of nice guys who want to complete games in close collaboration. Therefore, helping others in the game is self-evident for experienced players as well as helping on technical issues is. You will always find a helping hand or tutoring voice in our players, especially our members.

On the other hand, it is not only polite but also a sign of respect to read yourself through some 30-50 lines on the wiki to know what this all is about. You want the pass for our Sandbox Server? Its on the wiki. You want information about our GRF-package? Its on the wiki! Any questions remaining? Consult the wiki!

Today, I banned the first player from our servers. After some 1.5 years of beeing around I didn’t think this would ever happen. I’m writing this blogpost for you so you may notice why you are not banned by now. Et voila: 9 good reasons why you are not banned by now:

  1. You didn’t use the shift-button excessively on IRC
  2. You have a nickname which identifies you for your teammates
  3. You talk about what you have in your mind
  4. You joined as a spectator in your first game and just observed others at playing to understand what and how they are doing
  5. You can read
  6. You want to read if others suggest you to
  7. You click links to pages which were posted to you and may be important for you
  8. You respond to questions and advises ingame
  9. You don’t flood IRC because the world around you is all evil and try to help you

Thats all for tonight, don’t get banned out there!

#openttdcoop goes teamspeak

Times changing and a lot of things happen these days. Also #openttdcoop is heavily active. Tonight we did a Skype Session: five people in one conference, too much problems with Linux, Mic’s and Bandwith. After some searchings we have choosen Teamspeak as our new voice chat application. It’s available for Windows, Linux and Mac Os X (TeamSpeex, check the latest Nightly).

Actually XeryusTC is running our Teamspeak Server:

  • URL: xeryustc.cjb.net:50005
  • Password: cooptalk

update by Mucht:thx to Jinx, #openttdcoop has a permanent teamspeak server now! For the first time, it will be used for mainserver games and Coopetition games (subchannels were created for that).Due to several reasons, the adress and passwords will not posted in public – just join in our channel and ask a member for the contact – you’ll be messaged with all you need!

TeamCoop

Bloggers welcome!

Great news for our small-but-growing community – Osai managed to setup this blog this afternoon. Since Brianetta bribed some officials, our Sandbox-server-bot was released from its jail during the evening-hours. Now we have two readjusted features:

IRC < -> Sandbox Communication

A blog with the capability to display images

So we need some content – and its up to you to keep this blog alive! Register – report in at #openttdcoop and blog those stories around OpenTTD!
