Dev-Server: alpha test of wwottdgd patch

Quite some time passed since the last (and first) World wide OpenTTD game day was celebrated. As on most accounts it was a very nice and joyfull experience, we decided to make steps forward to a next experience of that kind: Up to 55 players playing on a single map in different companies with the possibility to share infrastructure for a price with other companies.

Quite a number of the required features are not in trunk so far, but available as patches. While it’s feasable to merge them, it’s far from easy to test this integrated patch as a whole for stability. We’d like to invite you to join us on our development server, play there and help us stress test the new wwottdgd patch for stability on multiplayer. See also the related forum thread, the wiki page on openttd.org and the related discussion about settings for the next wwottdgd game.

If you’re interested in contributing patches or grf, please do so and contact us on IRC (#wwottdgd) or #openttdcoop and add to the discussion on the forum and / or the wiki pages mentioned above.

Thanks to LordAzamath for the nice banner!

I don’t get it. Why not just put this stuff to its own branch and keep enjoying the VCS goodness, instead of releasing patches?

wouldn’t save any of the work, if you want to stay in sync with trunk.
