Some screenshots from the Mainserver

Hello, world!

after having some dull hours on upgrading the wiki we decided to have a smooth evening session on the mainserver. Since a lot of progress took place during the past days I made some screenshots to give you an idea about this scenario.

The WIKI at new glance (1.9.3)…

13:30 CET:Mucht and I met at IRC to update our wiki.
Our Wiki was still version 1.5.x which was very, very rusty and old and long time ago we already tried to update the wiki but that terribly faild.
13:35 CET: After waiting some minutes, because Mucht printed mysqldump output into the shell instead of a > file.sql, we started backing up the old data (sql, code, images and all that stuff).
Just as an information: the mysql-backup was 41MB big, and the backup of our wiki-folder 358MB.
13:45 CET: we checked out svn and the newest version of mediawiki was copied to our server
13:50 CET: We ran $php upgrade.php! It failed like it did a half year ago… what an embargo.
13:51 CET: We started with some strange bugfixes which lead us into new errors according to the include_path. We already felt very bad.
14:20 CET: valhallasw showed up and joined our process in the shell
14:25 CET: He did a lot of testings too and finally we found the problem..
14:32 CET: The upgrade was successful, but the wiki didn’t output any data, again we were frustrated.
14:38 CET: valhallaw started checking the error log and tried to fix it.
14:50 CET: it still didn’t work, we decided to recover our old wiki.
14:55 CET: The old files were recovered, but permissions have been fscked up. Someone forgot to use the -p flag while extracting the archive. So we had to do it again.
15:03 CET: The old files had been recovered… but the wiki was still not working. It was annoying.
15:10 CET: Mucht and I took a break. valhallasw was still on it

— quite a long break —

16:30 CET: The old wiki was working again and we decided to upgrade to 1.6 first which worked fine. the upgrade to 1.9 failed again 🙁

— another long break and the wiki was still offline —

18:45 CET: We decided to install a clean version of 1.9.3 and port the data manually from the running 1.5.x wiki to this new one
18:55 CET: halvalhalla occured again and had some idea’s
19:55 CET: the wiki was working… finally… and we SHOUT THANKS to valhallasw
20:20 CET: I fixed the old skin and a problem with external images

After about 7 hours the wiki is back again and its a newer version!
Enjoy it!

Passenger Destinations – we need them!!

Hello community,

today, I read this forumpost about passengers with specific destinations. It seems like a lot of improvements were made and prssi supplied a pretty stable code by now. Therefore, I decided to compile myself a Pax-Destination-patched OpenTTD.

Two Tile Traffic

This sandbox game started out with a simple network plan, conjured up by Progman and tweaked a little by Ammler.

Network plan Sandbox game
Nothing too fancy we thought, well we thought wrong….

The Network of Small Transport
We Never thought we would end up with a network stretched to it’s limit.
Again and again we needed to optimize the entries end exits of the stations, modify the SLH’s and build trains, loads of trains.. Some 700 at the end.

And here it is, the busiest station of them all in this game, Oil / Wood Drop, taking in 205 trains (note the extension at the right which is rotated 90 degrees and tunnels Goods Pick-up)

205 trains coming in at Oil/Wood Drop

No need to explain that this station periodically jams at both the entry and exit.

Crazy game, loads of fun. 😀

Those little red dots crawling around the map, well… they are not ants 😉
Ants? Nope... Trains!
