Some screenshots from the Mainserver

Hello, world!

after having some dull hours on upgrading the wiki we decided to have a smooth evening session on the mainserver. Since a lot of progress took place during the past days I made some screenshots to give you an idea about this scenario.

Since we decided to create this network with realism and landscape-preservation on top priority we decided to build the network right at the start and add major stations and trains later on. This caused some emptiness on our tracks for quite a long time and therefore some demotivated players. By now, however, our network has to handle quite some traffic:

Within a few more additions of stations to our network one can expect some queueings at certain parts of the network; in short: the game is getting interesting. Despite the idea of not having one huge central station per goods type we built some three major spots on this map. Originally, the idea was to supply some 2-3 destinations for each type of goods. However, we are doing fine so far with one single food factory, one single sawmill and one single oil refinery. Below, you see our sawmill industry:

Located in the lovely town of Kussnacht in the far north of this map, the food production plant is capable of handling quite a lot of trains. It is very likely it can service all possible farm goods on this map. On the right side of this screenshot you have an overview over all Hubs currently built on this map:

Remember, we only have LR lines on this map. This means, constructing a Hub is very simple but still challenging since our main goal is to preserve the landscape and therefore integrate it smoothly into the landscape. I think the oil station is a good example – a smooth bend around Spiez makes terraforming activities obsolete and giving the route something both realistic and scenic. Judge by yourself:

The original idea of spreading goods destination stations all over the map was fulfilled for coal-trains. By now, we service three powerplants. The third one, Aarau, was built recently. The connection to the cargo line around CH 09 was rather nasty to complete, but Osai did a good job in this region:

Let’s see how this all ends. I’d say: with a great save!
