Next on the list: industries!

It has been a while since I have posted and early development article of NUTS and now is the time when I am starting another newGRF project – new industries. It all started as I was trying to find some ways how to improve FIRS, but the required changes would be way too major so it is better off to make a separate newGRF. In this article I am going to present to you the ideas that I have gotten so far, and how is the core of the set going to work and of course I am going to explain why.
P.S. if you have any nice ideas about the newGRF name, please do not hesitate to throw them at me 😉

Thank you & Good bye

Dear coopers,

This thursday I will be leaving for indefinite time. It (hopefully) won’t mean goodbye forever but I take this chance to say thank you to the community.

No game has kept me interested nearly as long as OTTD has and no community I know is as friendly as #openttdcoop. I’ve been playing public server games  since september 2007 and I’ve been member since march 2008. I’ve enjoyed every single time I played games, but it wouldn’t have been nearly as good without the great bunch of people that make up #openttdcoop. I don’t get along great with everyone at times but I enjoy the company of all of you and would consider some of the long-term players as good friends.

As some of you probably know I’ve been away traveling around Australia for 2 years from which I’ve recently returned. Traveling being the addictive thing it is, I’ve decided to hit the road again. My plan this time is to go backpacking around Southeast Asia, possibly followed by a year in New Zealand, however, plans tend to change when on the road so I might end up doing something completely different.

It’s great to see the simple concept of getting together and creating clever transportation networks together going strong and still gaining popularity 6 years after it started. As I know nothing about server managing or coding my contributions have been limited, therefore I want to say thank you, especially to the members who do the actual hard work behind the scenes in their spare time getting hardly anything in return; you guys are awesome. Also I want to say thank you to all the regular players keeping the community active and growing.

I will definitely be dropping in to say hello every now and then but you probably won’t be seeing me in-game for a while, so thank you and good bye.

New member: Mazur

It has been a while again since our inner circle has grown on size. But here we have one more fellow to join our ranks.
Ladies and gentlemen, please let me announce with great pleasure that we have a new member, Mazur!

He has been around ever since the eternity began, always has been nice and helped everyone he could.
For all of his efforts and friendly attitude, today we celebrate his promotion to a full member of #openttdcoop!

Everyone welcome the one and only, Mazur!

Titlegame competition – now voting!

It has become a bit of a tradion for OpenTTD that each major new stable release gets a new titlegame. This titlegame basically forms the background you see when you start the game. For the past two years there have been competitions where players submit their own games  and by way of voting a new titlegame is chosen. This year was no different and now the first round of voting has begun.

In total there have been twenty-one entries, all of which can be viewed in different resolutions here. Among these entries are three made by members of our community, Mark, Sylf and myself. There is also an entry from the winner of the 1.0 competition, sc79. It seems that the winner of last year, romazoon, has not entered.

Most information about this year’s competition can be found on the tt-forums. Details on the how to vote in this round can be found in this post. This round of voting will end on the 29th of february, so you have one week to make your  mind up!

Now I’m not making any suggestions for voting, but the more total votes the merrier. Whether you like it quiet or busy, structured or chaotic, filled with trains, planes, busses or boats, from what I’ve seen there is a titlegame for everyone. Now get going!

Advanced Building Revue 11: Refit Stations

Refit stations are a pretty special and separate topic which we use in the refit games. For all the past time we have of course made some development in those and they include a few features to keep in mind. This article will be similar to the overflow articles – it is meant to summarize the progress and show what refit stations are in a nutshell.
