Europe et large coop game

There is another big game on Alanin’s server – large scale europe map.

It’s a new game type we want to try with our community. Goals are – realistic functionality and eyecandy looks. Where possible – based on historical/geographical data and very minor landscaping (aside of breaking long bridges). The end result should not look exactly as current europe railway map, but it should feel close to that, being combined cargo and pax game.

Simplified 6 to 4 merger

Some of most comonly used elements in network are mergers, pretty much any network node such as hub or station require track/lane mixing. Easiest of them all is just a simple cross of as many lanes there are to as many as needed, however since that would be a one single block – only one train can pass it at given time and that would lower thoughput to pretty much same level as a single lane no mater how many output tracks there are:

Only one train at time can pass through.

500 Trains and a network trés difficile (analysis)

Finally! We reached 500 trains and Town D is done! Only a SLH in the south is missing. That is a very good news.
Maybe you recognised the discussions about this network plan. The concept became more and more LLX_XRR, what means we have a normal LL_RR network, for all the primary/raw cargo types like wood and food (we call them 1st tier). The X is an abbreviation for express and all secondary/produced cargo types like goods, steel, paper (we call them 2nd tier). The system was not often used yet and therefor we don’t know very much about it and its ideas. But after hours of discussion (especially Pharzox and me) I want to show you some results…
And oh… please check the vote, we are very interested in what kind of network you like?

Progress on Public Server Game #40

Public Server Game #40 Network OverviewGood Evening (and of course also good morning) Community,
we have a hard time at the Public Server right now. The current game is very difficult, the network plan is even for me, well, -insane-. But I don’t care, and you shouldn’t either. The really difficult parts of the network are done, especially the Backbone Hubs. Only the stations of Town D are missing (the red area on the overview). In my opinion there is no reason to be scared anymore. Just join and be impressed.

3-Way BBH (LLL_RRR)Another thingy. This is Public Server Game #40. Not a jubilee, but still something special. Actually, the game is already 71 hours of work of at least 2 persons (probably more). And I really like to see this one BIG. I am not sure whether 500 trains are a problem or if they are lost in this huge network.
We should bring this network to its limit, but as you know, we can’t do it on Brianettas Server. It would be great if someone can host this game, running with 1000+ trains, you need a lot of CPU power and also a fast internet connection.
If you can provide that, write a comment, or contact as at IRC, or write an email to openttdcoop[at]ppcis.org.

Public Server Archive – Renewed

Even though I am ill, I re-created the Public Server Archive. You might remember that the list of archived games became bigger and bigger. With all those screenshots it was almost impossible for users with low-speed internet connections to have a look at the archive. I splitted the page into several subpages containing 10 games. All the folks with heavy cable connections can still view all games on one page like it exists for the Junctionary too.
Something new is the Hall of Fame, which will contain very famous games. Hopefully soon. 😉
To add a game to the HoF it has to be voted. Therefor I created a Voting Page.

Enjoy browsing the new archive.
