Superbuses

Superbuses, or other vehicles, are transporting cargo over a very long distance in a very short time. You can make huge profit when you use superbuses.

An example: Theoretically, the busses are transporting passengers from Honningville Lakeside to Quardham Lakeside. But in practice the buses are driving around in Muntfingfield. The stations are started at the corners of the map and they have been enlarged. The stations are now in Muntfingfield near to each other, so the buses are driving from the one corner of the map to the other corner in a very short time. And the busses create huge profit now.

So the busses are driving between the two corners of the map.

But in practice this happens:

The busses are driving a very short distance. Wich creates big profit. All buses riding there make 68.000€ profit when they transport 70 passengers.

I made a supertrain who is transporting coal between the two corners of a 2048 x 2048 map. It is probably the hugest profit you can have with a vehicle.

70 Million € is not bad :P

A small Bugreport

During the current Sandbox-Game, an error has shown up:

Buggy Budget

As you noticed, we have quite some running costs. This is because a hit on the clone-train-button causes the costs to be accounted as running costs. Building a train straightforward increases the new-vehicle-costs correctly.

Nice?  Show your appreciation at the thread linked above.  We love a bit of fan art.

3D Work

As you may (or may not) know, OpenTTD is slanted to get 32 Bit Per Pixel graphics in version 0.6. This will allow us the full range of colours the average graphics card is able to represent. As part of this, the size of each graphic is being changed to 128x128px or even potentially 256x256px. As such, all new graphics are being made in 3D, in a program called Blender.

I have been doing some 3D work on a model I hope to get included in this pack. At the moment I am still learning all the ropes in Blender, so not everything is as good as I would like it yet, but I am working on improving it.

Currently my primary focus is going to be on how to remove the shadows on the joints, and then possibly detailing it (I’m debating the inclusion of a compressor motor in some of the free space).

The building itself will be built by the town, and there are 2 possibilities for it:

  • Industry: (Built like the bank) Accepts natural gas, produces nothing. Ammount of white smoke emmited differs: If nothing provided, none, if some provided, a small ammount, if oversupplied, a large ammount
  • Building: A building that will be built on the town’s outskirts.

In either case, the first one should be built at arround 1,500 population and a seccond at arround 10,000. No more should be built after that. Players will have to be cautious of the town expanding and demolishing the industry.

Anyway, heres the picture:

c# port of openttd

Transport Tycoon Forums :: View topic – working on c# port of openttd

Best thing to happen to TTD, or folly of the century? exe is doing this, and has actually produced a screenshot of what he’s coded so far. Question is, does it have a future? Originally, openttd was seen as a rather far-fetched and unnecessary project, when compared to the Patch. Is the C# port unnecessary or far-fetched, or is it the future?

Comments please!
