New guide – please welcome the “tutorial savegame”

Hey Folks,

last night I completed the “tutorial savegame” guide. This guide is definitely ment for players totally new to #openttdcoop. It shows some very basic tricks of the trade – and the best thing: you can have it in full motion! Just download the savegame and see how things work out in the “real virtual world”. Along with that, you have some comments on the dedicated guide pages.

I appreciate some helping hands on both linguistic corrections and content-expanding commits on this section as well as on the whole #openttdcoop wiki 😉

City Grow Sandbox Game moving fast

Not long ago we began a new game on the public server with only one purpose. Covering the map with cities of 500 dollar payday loan today. The game year 2063 and we are not even near covering half the map!
The network design works quit well and Osai’s Terminal concept makes it even better. At the start we took awhile too vote what type of voting we would do. After lots of votes and lots of talking we had chosen Phazorx Plan which involved many terminals and S-Bahn. After a while we transformed everything too Tran rapid and still lots of Pax are waiting at some stations. God know how this is going to end when the cities are so large we can’t see them in one screen anymore. The map is also totally flat giving the city’s unlimited space too expands! Many people had problems following Phazorx guidelines our didn’t even hear of them, for making Shift-ML’s… It caused allot of confusing and slowly e are improving the wrong build hub’s.

Well I personally hope we get too cover the map. And please let Ghost’s city not become the largest one! ( again… He’s so good at it 🙁 )

Gratulations to Adm.Spock for his promotion to a full member!

Two and a half years of #openttdcoop

Yes, it’s-a-me, Mucht. Again.

After having noticed being way to idle here on the blog, I decided to share some thoughts about Osai’s blogpost about the 20.000th pagehit on our Wiki.

After half a year of existance on IRC, we decided to port our early webpage to a wiki. I wrote almost every part of our early webpage by myself and it was pretty clear that a dynamic community needs a wiki-system in order to motivate every member to post their ideas and thoughts. Still, the wiki is our most precious part of #openttdcoop right behind our game servers and IRC. Again, we have to thank our host Brianetta for all his support and confidence he brought into our community the past two years. His “autopilot”, the bridge between IRC and the OpenTTD-ingame-chat (and vice versa) increases the communication and became a key-feature in our community.

Nowadays its a great deal for ambitious OpenTTD players to join #openttdcoop: everyone is encouraged to post his ideas on a dedicated wiki-page. Important features or constructions as well as personal thoughts have their auditors here on the blog. The IRC channel is a place to meet skilled players and finally the servers are attractive due to the usage of bleeding-edge nightlies and well-chosen newGRF-sets.

I’ll start to prepare myself for the 5th anniversary now.
