Crashing sandbox

Some weary players will know that the Sandbox server has been quitting, apparently at random. It’s frustrating. We don’t know what the problem is at the moment. If you find that the server has crashed, feel free to inform one of the members (including me) so that we can get the game back on its feet.

Newgrf update

We decided to update the newgrf set as there was a problem with the alpine grf and the DBSetXL, we had these problems before but we only had big problems with it now. The server could be crashed when building trains, which isn’t a very good game. So I decided to propose to switch to UKRSv3 (I was thinking about this since UKRSv3 has been released). The others recognized that we would need to change to keep the server stable.

I also want to ask you guys a question: should we dump the UK brick bridge and switch to Purno’s bridge set? I would personally like to switch because I like those bridges more than OpenTTD’s default bridges. Please use the comments to cast your vote, and don’t vote on IRC as they will be forgotten (or we could change the poll 😉 ).

Have fun playing with the newgrf set!

Wiki-Startpage bunched the 10k

Somewhen these days the Wiki startpage reached the mark of 10.000 posts. I am blogging this, because the reaching of 1.000 has been promoted too. The wiki has been set up at 29th October 2005 and on 6 January 2006 (Picture) we reached the 1.000. As you can see on the picture, a lot of things have changed. And in my opinion we did a great job so far! Also I recognised the activity at our wiki is very low these weeks and a lot of things are not done yet. Maybe we try another update of the wiki, but somehow we were not able to do it, as thousands of php errors occured.

Cheers on the next 10k hits at our startpage :p

We have very short games, too

This game was logged for posterity by the ever-vigilant autopilot.  Gives an insight into the way that collaboration begins on the sandbox even before the first route begins to be planned.

UK Renewal Set for TTDP

UK Renewal Set for TTDP

Standard 5, I think

Pikkabird has released version 3 of the UKRS, which works fine with OpenTTD. It’s very, very good. That is all.
