Fish ‘n Ships

Our factory supports nearly all cargo-types and exports the products (cars, machines and much more) to all the big cities in our game. Flexibility is very important for us and so we are shipping our cargo via trains, planes and transporters. Every month Oil-Tankers arrive at our near-by Refinery and also ships from far away transport grain and livestock to our all-in-one Logistic Center.

The ship connection was very difficult to built, because the our train entrance is very big and the Junction providing the railnetwork support is kind of bermuda.

I love to watch actions at this Factory and with our #openttdcoop NewGRF Package its looking really nice!

Have a look at all the transport types going along here! 😛

Coopetition – the first leg!

Many #openttdcoop’ers know it already: we have a whole new idea of gameplay ready to start off! This thing is called Coopetition and it’s ment to bringt Cooperation and Competition together into one gameplay. Teams of two players are playing against other competitors in order to achieve the highest train income within two hours (8 years of gameplay).

Some players already teamed up! Read the rules and enlist at #openttdcoop with your team! Join our channel and report in!

The first Coopetition will start on Saturday, August 5th, 16.00 CEST (Berlin)

  • 1st Team so far: Osai & Mucht (The Austro-German-Wonder-Team)
  • 2nd Team: Challenge them in our IRC-Channel!

#openttdcoop goes teamspeak

Times changing and a lot of things happen these days. Also #openttdcoop is heavily active. Tonight we did a Skype Session: five people in one conference, too much problems with Linux, Mic’s and Bandwith. After some searchings we have choosen Teamspeak as our new voice chat application. It’s available for Windows, Linux and Mac Os X (TeamSpeex, check the latest Nightly).

Actually XeryusTC is running our Teamspeak Server:

  • URL: xeryustc.cjb.net:50005
  • Password: cooptalk

update by Mucht:thx to Jinx, #openttdcoop has a permanent teamspeak server now! For the first time, it will be used for mainserver games and Coopetition games (subchannels were created for that).Due to several reasons, the adress and passwords will not posted in public – just join in our channel and ask a member for the contact – you’ll be messaged with all you need!

Nice?  Show your appreciation at the thread linked above.  We love a bit of fan art.

3D Work

As you may (or may not) know, OpenTTD is slanted to get 32 Bit Per Pixel graphics in version 0.6. This will allow us the full range of colours the average graphics card is able to represent. As part of this, the size of each graphic is being changed to 128x128px or even potentially 256x256px. As such, all new graphics are being made in 3D, in a program called Blender.

I have been doing some 3D work on a model I hope to get included in this pack. At the moment I am still learning all the ropes in Blender, so not everything is as good as I would like it yet, but I am working on improving it.

Currently my primary focus is going to be on how to remove the shadows on the joints, and then possibly detailing it (I’m debating the inclusion of a compressor motor in some of the free space).

The building itself will be built by the town, and there are 2 possibilities for it:

  • Industry: (Built like the bank) Accepts natural gas, produces nothing. Ammount of white smoke emmited differs: If nothing provided, none, if some provided, a small ammount, if oversupplied, a large ammount
  • Building: A building that will be built on the town’s outskirts.

In either case, the first one should be built at arround 1,500 population and a seccond at arround 10,000. No more should be built after that. Players will have to be cautious of the town expanding and demolishing the industry.

Anyway, heres the picture:
